There is starting to be noticable differences in how the hybrids finish off the year. 192-09, 197-68, 203-01, 201-61, and 197-50 have filled extremely well. The kernal depth has pushed them to another level. I also evaluated plant health finding no issues in this field. I will post next week about current plant disease issues showing up in the area. Doing a preharvest stalk health evaluation will be very important this year. Crown rot and anthracnose will increase harvest losses if no plan is in place to harvest those fields first.

I know having a DroughtGard plot doesn't make sense with our lucky timely rains this season. I still believe some valuable data can be collected about which hybrids perform on low organic matter sand. The ear flex of the varieties is amazing. Some flex in length and others in girth. Watch later in October for the yield data.
