I encourage everyone to take a hard look at the Xtend soybean varieties this summer. I have heard some companies saying negative things about the varieties and the spraying system. I personally have nothing but good things to say. This picture of Channel 2017 R2X in my plot speaks for itself. The newest highest yielding genetics will only be in Xtend varieties going forward. Walking this plot tonight was very eye opening. All 6 Xtend varieties are ahead of their RR2 counterparts in every category. Growth stage, height, root development, stem diameter, and nodulation.

Tis the season for side-dressing. We are accumulating heat units very rapidly. At this time corn is growing very fast. Don't wait and miss the window to apply extra nitrogen and sulfur. The first load of empty boxes is heading back to Channel. If you have any seed, pallets, or boxes to return please let me know.
I have looked at many fields this week for lots of different reasons. Most answers can be found with a shovel. Early may planted soybeans have started developing nodules, and corn root systems are fairly undeveloped. This week of dry weather should push root development. The main issues are planting depth and sidewall compaction.
This spring there is a good chance the deliveries Yield PRO Agronomy made to your farm were powered by E85. I always try to support our industry when I have a chance. Burning more ethanol is a great way to support corn prices and help our environment! I've had no issues with power or milage. Plus it saves you $.40 per gallon compared to gasoline.
This may be the last box of 2017 soybeans going through the treater! I still have plenty of seed on hand so don't worry. What a crazy final week of the planting season. I have never seen so many units of seed go out in season. Thank you for choosing Yield PRO Agronomy and Channel Seed. Now the adventure of growing a successful crop begins, and I will be here to help every step of the way. Thank you!
This spring posed many challenges to planting in ideal conditions. Many area fields are having a hard time emerging. In my opinion a rotery hoe is an essential piece of equipment for anyone farming row crops. Please monitor your fields closely because it is not too late to save them!
This field of Channel 197-68STX EDC has finally regained its color. I see a distinct difference in early growth and vigor with the EDC treatment. We will see if it translates to yield this fall. Also, this sunny warm weather is a great time to apply your herbicide. Please watch height restrictions as you begin cleaning up fields. Call with any questions.
