Channel 196-77STX is having an amazing year! This is one of the best corn on corn hybrids i've ever had the honor of selling.
2016 is the first year for this hybrid and it did not disappoint! The ears are filled out well with very little tip back at 36,000 PPA in this field near Mindoro. The plant health is very good as well, I did not observe any leaf diseases or signs of anthracnose and crown rot. I can't wait to see what the weigh wagon has to say.
Construction of Yield PRO's building is complete. A big thank you goes out to these area businesses for a job well done, JD Riley Construction- Troy Leitzau, Performance Concrete, Muehlenkamp Excavating, Swenson Overhead Door, and Lightening Electric. The rock for the driveways and final grading will be done by the end of the week. A view of the inside through the overhead door on the west side.
Sparta Channel Corn Plot lineup left to right. 197-66VT2P, 192-09VT3P, New 193-53STX, P9526, 197-50STX, New 199-72STX, 197-68STX, New 203-01STX, New 202-20STX, New 201_28STX, and 201-61STX. Corn is progressing very quickly. We have accumulated a lot of heat units coupled with adequate moisture has pushed the crop along. The varieties are showing nice differences in ear type.

196-77 is one of the most consistent hybrids in the Channel lineup. It performs very well in heavy corn on corn residue, clay ridge soils, and Sandy drought prone areas. The yield potential and heavy test weight grain have placed it near the top of my favorites list! This field is corn on corn with 35,000 population in 20" rows. 100 units of nitrogen and 3 units of sulfur were applied at R1 with Y-drops. Total N is 230# acre.
