One or the most important seasons is upon us, sweet corn season. 6 days ahead of last year. Rye harvest is underway on the farm. Yields and test weight are below expectations. The prolonged warm weather at the end of grain fill took the top end off. That's farming.

The Xtend system is by far the best on the market. This 2 foot tall Roundup resistant waterhemp was sprayed with Engenia. Lights out! New Channel 1520R2X soybeans are starting to set pods. They are still in the R2 growth stage but in only a few days will be R3. Knowing the growth stage is important for rescue herbicide treatments and fungicide applications. Now is the time to get after fungicide spraying. Best investment you can make in your soybean crop, in my opinion.
The heat and moisture have pushed crop growth along nicely. It also has pushed weed germination and development after residual herbicides lose potency. Waterhemp are the main issue along with a few tough giant ragweed. A good pre herbicide program is a must for soybean weed control. Now is a great time talk and make a plan for next year.
2nd crop Channel RR440 alfalfa being harvested next to the warehouse. Channel 107 day silage 207-27STX on the ridge near Cashton looking great. Channel 199-11STX on sand near Mindoro showing off its strong roots. This new product works well on light sandy soils
